Season Dates:
Self Service Season
May 27- October 7, 2022
This season, Fire Island Cabin will return to reserving space by the bunk and guests will be responsible for their own meals. The cabin sleeps 22 guests and has two, co-ed, 11-bunk dorm rooms. Mattresses, blankets, and pillows are provided. There are two shared bathrooms (male and female), hot outdoor showers, a full kitchen, screened porch, decks, beach chairs, umbrellas, a hammock, yoga equipment, and a gazebo with a library and board games. For water enthusiasts, there are sailboats (if led by an authorized sailor), kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards. An exciting variety of events and activities are planned, and cabin guests are welcome and encouraged to participate. There is no additional charge. Click here for a list of events.
Guest Responsibilities
Because Fire Island Cabin is volunteer-run, all guests help with small chores such as sweeping or emptying the dishwasher and our new twice weekly cleaning service performs many other chores. The cabin does not serve food; the only exception is a Friday night happy hour with a few snacks. The cabin has a BYOB policy with alcoholic beverages permitted only at happy hour and dinner. All guests must provide their own food by transporting it, shopping in nearby communities, or utilizing restaurants. An onsite manager will help coordinate cooking and cleaning times in the communal kitchen. The kitchen is well-stocked with condiments, spices, dishes, and cookware (including a crockpot, rice cooker, food processor, blender, microwave). An outdoor grill and charcoal are available for guest use. Guests are encouraged to prepare simple meals so every guest has time in the kitchen. There is a guest refrigerator, a small freezer, and cubbies for dry goods.
Overnight guests must bring their own linens or rent a top and bottom bed sheet, pillowcase, and towel for $20 cash/check or $21 PayPal/Venmo. Blankets are available. A sleeping bag is fine as long as used with a fitted bottom sheet and pillowcase. To maximize their stay, guests can store their luggage in outside bins and enjoy the property after checkout time.
