Community

AMC relies on its vast community of members, volunteers, and staff to get people outdoors and to protect outdoor spaces together.

Whether through leading outdoor trips, offering outdoor skills instruction, or speaking up for the protection of beautiful natural spaces, our community brings AMC to life across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. We are committed to establishing a fun and welcoming outdoor experience for all, and together we support AMC’s leadership in environmental advocacy efforts.

Chapters

AMC's 11 chapters in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic support its mission at the local level by leading trips, offering outdoor skills and leadership training courses, and creating opportunities for conservation action and stewardship close to home. These dedicated volunteers activate their communities, often launching people on a path toward greater engagement with AMC.

Camps and Cabins

AMC's four seasonal, full service volunteer camps are managed by experienced volunteers and are located in places like Acadia National Park and New Hampshire’s Lakes region, and provide daily activities and evening programs. AMC volunteers also maintain nine roadside and backcountry cabin rentals, ideal for groups looking to explore on their own or for a remote, backcountry experience.
