Best Hikes in Pinkham Notch: Boott Spur to Lion Head

Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire. Basecamp for hikers seeking to climb mighty Mount Washington and once home to legendary AMC hutmaster, Joe Dodge. It’s a magical place teeming with natural beauty and boundless options for outdoor adventure.

One epic, view-packed hike is the Boott Spur to Lion Head loop. This 8.3-mile, +3,900′ challenge-of-a-hike is known for its heady views of Mount Washington and panoramas into Tuckerman Ravine. C’mon and take a virtual hike with us!

  1. Roll out of bed at Joe Dodge Lodge (teeth brushing optional – your secret is safe with us).
  2. Grab breakfast (and your trail lunch).
  3. Say hello to the friendly folks at the Visitor Center Trails Desk and ask them any questions you may have.
  4. Gear up and pack your bag with the 10 essentials.
  5. Hit the trail!
