Situated in a national recreation area, Mohican Outdoor Center offers visitors quiet wooded hikes to breathtaking waterfalls and to the soaring cliffs on the nearby Appalachian Trail with magnificent views of the Delaware Water Gap. Stroll to nearby wetlands to spot the local wildlife or visit Catfish Pond for a refreshing swimming hole, paddling, and fishing for bass, perch, pickerel, or sunfish.

Mohican offers several self-service cabin options, ideal for groups who wish to cook their own meals. Pillows are provided—bring your own sleeping bag and towels. Our Demo Center offers guests the opportunity to try out Deuter backpacks, LEKI poles, MSR snowshoes, and LOWA gear and boots. View site map.

Camping

Mohican offers several options for camping, including groups, private groups, tent platforms, and walk-in campsites. Due to the size of our parking lot and style of campground we are unable to accommodate RV’s or Tow Behind Campers. Trails to campsites are rooted and rocky, so rolling cooler and luggage are not recommended.

Our packages include exclusive use of all lodges with more than 60 available bunks, private and lakeside campsites, boathouse and dining hall space which each comfortably fitting 100 people, council fire ring, and free use of canoes and kayaks. Reserve the boathouse and dining hall space for special events. The boathouse offers pristine views of the Catfish Pond and while the kitchen is not available for food preparation, catering is welcome.

Weather

The right clothing and gear are essential in the unpredictable weather of the Northeast. Even if it feels like summer in the valleys, it can be cold and winter-like on the high peaks. Be prepared for severe weather regardless of season, dress in layers (including synthetic or wool base and insulating layers, and a windproof/waterproof outer shell), eat high energy foods, and stay hydrated.

Our Commitment to Sustainable Operations

AMC has a long-standing commitment to using its huts, lodges, and sporting camps as models for sustainable operations and environmental stewardship. At Mohican Outdoor Center we recycle on the property and use propane and or fireplaces/wood stoves for heating.
