The cabin is reserved for exclusive use by a single party and can host up to seven guests and two dogs. Guests prepare their own meals, however, dinners can be enjoyed over at Gorman Chairback Lodge for a special treat. In addition to two canoes, the cabin has a campfire and firewood is included. The cabin has two bedrooms, a common room, kitchen, and screened-in porch and features wood heating and propane lighting. There is no bathroom or running water in the cabin, but a privy and hand-pumped well (non-potable water, summer only) are located just outside. Potable water and firewood are provided.
The lodge is drive-in during summer and fall, and is accessible by ski, snowshoe, or dogsled in winter. Gear transportation to/from the winter trailhead to the cabin is included in winter rates. Please note that there is limited cell service and no WiFi at the cabin. The cabin is located on gated, privately managed roads with set hours when passage is available.
A screened-in porch runs the width of the cabin and overlooks the lake. The kitchen includes a propane refrigerator, a propane cook stove with oven and all pots, pans, plate ware and flatware for seven guests. The sink can be used in conjunction with a jug with a spigot. There is no faucet and thus no running water in the cabin. A propane grill is available for grilling—located on the screened in porch.
For the 2023 winter season we will not be providing linens in any of the cabins or bunkhouses. Please be sure to pack a sleeping bag and/or your own sheets and linens for your stay. Be aware that cabins are heated by wood stoves, but they do get cold

Getting There
The lodge is located in the KI Jo-Mary Forest which is a multi-use forest owned by a consortium of landowners. The roads are gated from May through October. Access is managed and fees collected by North Maine Woods. Access through the checkpoints (Hedgehog and Katahdin Ironworks) is limited to hours of operation (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and is strictly enforced. Please check the North Maine Woods website additional information. Access fees are included in Gorman Chairback and Little Lyford lodging rates. Please bring a copy of your AMC reservation confirmation letter to show at the gatehouse. Vehicle types (RV sizes and types, motorcycles, etc.) are restricted or prohibited. Roads are gravel and are active logging roads. Logging vehicles have the right of way. Conditions can be rough and low clearance vehicles are not recommended. All wheel drive is recommended during wet, snowy or icy conditions. Find driving directions here.
